Sublimated vs. tackle twill jerseys: which should your team choose?

How sublimated, hybrid and cut-and-sew jerseys differ, what each is best for, and how long each takes to make.

Every team jersey is decorated one of two ways: the colors are dyed into the fabric (sublimation), or names, numbers and logos are cut from fabric and sewn on (tackle twill or embroidery). Our four series use them in different ways.

Sublimated (Core)

The design is printed onto transfer paper and pressed into the fabric with heat, so the ink becomes part of the fiber. There's nothing on top to peel, crack or fade, and there's no limit on colors, gradients or patterns: anything you can design, we can print, edge to edge.

  • Best for: bold designs, patterns, gradients, lots of colors, and teams that want them light and breathable
  • Made in the USA in about 2–3 weeks, or overseas in about 3–4 weeks
  • No minimums: one jersey is fine

Reversible

Two sublimated layers with a different design on each side, so one jersey covers home and away or practice scrimmages. Made in the same times as Core.

Elite: the hybrid

A sublimated body, so the design can be as detailed as you like, with the names, numbers and logos sewn on in tackle twill or embroidery for the raised, stitched look of a pro jersey.

  • Best for: teams that want the pro look without giving up a detailed design
  • Made overseas in about 5–6 weeks

Pro: cut and sew

The jersey is built from separate panels of colored fabric, cut and sewn together, with tackle twill or embroidered names, numbers and logos. It's the way the pros' game jerseys are made.

  • Best for: classic designs in solid panels and stripes, built to last for years
  • Made overseas in about 5–6 weeks

So which one?

If your date is close, or your design has gradients, patterns or lots of colors, choose Core. If you want stitched names and numbers, choose Elite or Pro and leave yourself five or six weeks. You can switch between versions in the Studio and see the price change before you decide.
